Notebook #1

This first notebook comes from when I was just starting grad school somewhere around 2014-2015. The notes are fairly quick, one-off’s mostly. I guess I was pretty busy with school, my assistantship and keeping track of writing in Word docs and loose leaf computer paper (a new practice for me at that time).

Reading through the notebook, I noticed a handful of deeply involved sentences, haiku almost, mixed in with partially lists, odd and unlabeled schedule things, and grad student assessments of too-big topics.

Here are the highlights:

J.H., the Greek novelist, could probably tell you the meaning of the word, if it’s Greek.

The only way to write is to let go of the language matrix prescribed for purposes—statements, questions, exclamations, etc.
